The Bridge and Sgro families are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Lindsay Alicia Bridge (nee Sgro) on August 1st, 2024 at the age of 44. Lindsay leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by her husband, Kynan and daughter, Avery. Lindsay was a beloved daughter to Ralph and Susan Sgro, a cherished sister to Ryan and his partner Kristen, a loving aunt to Dexter Bridge, and a niece and cousin to her large extended family.
Raised in Burlington Ontario, Lindsay was known for her laughter and infectious smile. She shone on stage as a young dancer, recited Broadway musicals by heart, and surrounded herself with a strong circle of friends. Her dazzling personality became her trademark as a gifted and independent business leader. After graduating from the Richard Ivey School of Business as an Ivey Scholar in 2002, she launched her career at Maple Leaf Foods. In 2008, she followed her passion and returned to the family business, where she became a McDonald’s franchise owner. She was quickly recognized as a leader in the Owner Operator community. In 2013, she proudly opened Canada’s flagship McDonald’s restaurant at Yonge and Dundas Square in Toronto. The highly anticipated opening was filled with Lindsay’s signature touches: a bold sense of style, innovation, and thoughtful connections to the local community.
In 2014, Lindsay and Kynan welcomed their beloved daughter Avery into the world. Lindsay reveled in being a mother and loved sharing family traditions, laughter, dancing and listening to music with her. She proudly told her girlfriends all about Avery over long brunches and backyard gatherings.
Lindsay loved people, rich conversations, and fiery debates. Her ability to contribute to a wide range of topics—travel, politics, business, the arts—testified to her curiosity and engaging nature. Lindsay loved her family deeply and forged strong bonds with them. She enjoyed vacations with Kynan and Avery, attended theatre productions with her mother and their friends, brainstormed business decisions with her father, brother and Kynan, and cherished time attending large family gatherings.
Lindsay brought people together with her enthusiasm for life. She faced adversity with extraordinary grace and modeled the essence of determination through hope, love, and positivity—leaving a lasting impact on her family, friends, and caregivers. They were changed forever by the way Lindsay approached all facets of her life—particularly the challenges of her long illness with an autoimmune disease.
Lindsay’s family extend deep thanks to the doctors and caregivers at the University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital for the love and care they provided over the past ten years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lindsay’s memory can be sent to Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario where a special tribute will be made in Lindsay’s honour—a cause that helps families and was close to Lindsay’s heart.
